Legends Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce the 2012 production – “The Edmund Fitzgerald.” The largest freighter in the Great Lakes at the time, the Edmund Fitzgerald was lost in a massive storm to the depths of Lake Superior in 1975, finding its final resting place with 29 officers and crew. Legends will tell this timeless tale through the maritime-influenced sounds of Benjamin Britten, James Horner, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Klaus Badelt, Francis McBeth, and Gordon Lightfoot.
“The design team has put in many hours in developing this concept, which also focuses on Michigan history,” says Ibe Sodawalla, Executive Director/CEO. “Our design team has expanded this season, and I’m pleased to announce the addition of our new Program Coordinator, Stephen Alia.”
The design team includes Stephen Alia (program coordinator), Ibe Sodawalla (brass arranger), Landon Ewers (percussion composer), Ryan Miller (drill and visual design), and Bobby Hazelton (guard design).
“Additionally, there will be some new faces on our instructional staff, as well as many returning instructors from last season that will maintain the excellence of Legends,” says Ibe. “I’m also pleased to welcome Bobby Hazelton as our new color guard supervisor.”
Heading up the departments will be Landon Ewers (percussion), Derek Faasse (brass), Bobby Hazelton (color guard), and Tom DiNuoscio (visual). For a full roster of instructional staff, please visit the drum corps staff page. Bios will be available soon.
Legends looks forward to bringing “The Edmund Fitzgerald” to Drum Corps International audiences throughout the Midwest this summer.
Auditions will be held on January 13-15, 2012. Visit here for more details.
