2004 A very challenging year to maintain, but interest remained strong. Ibe was appointed to an administrative role with the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps from Dubuque, IA which made this his last full-time season with Legends. The group also had a shift in staffing and the ensemble was only able to meet once per week at 4 hours each rehearsal. Membership and fundraising remained the same and a recording was done in the auditorium, where we offered our first open recording session. Rehearsals were at Portage Central High School. This season saw a decline in membership with some of the strongest talent we've seen. Also, members of this year were also diehard Legends members and continued to bring life to the season. Ibe arranged for the ensemble and turned the brass reigns over to Jeremy Wissner, who has been involved with the program since 2002 as a staff member. New percussion staff were added in both areas of battery and front ensemble. Members were from Portage Central High School and Middle School programs. Sodawalla, Mark Guthrie, Alvin King Brass: Jeremy Wissner 2006 A major building year for the program with our highest membership level at 60+ members. There was a major recruiting push for area schools participation and we saw members from Portage Central High School, Portage Central Middle School, Parchment High School, Vicksburg High School, Vicksburg Middle School, and Schoolcraft High School. The program welcomed back Ibe, founder of Legends, where he assisted in areas of coordination, instruction, and program development. The ensemble presented Enfuego! at the traditional home show concert at the Portage Central High School Spring Concert and made appearances at Schoolcraft and Vicksburg concerts in the Spring. A small brass ensemble was featured at the beginning of each performance. The ensemble had 2 rehearsals per week at 2.5 hours per rehearsal at Portage Central High School. Sodawalla, Mark Guthrie, Alvin King Brass: Jeremy Wissner, Ibe Sodawalla 2006 - Summer Experience This was the first summer season of Legends and could only be possible because of the great experiences we have all seen with the winter program at Portage Central High School. The summer experience ensemble was developed by Ibe Sodawalla which was sponsored by Thoughts In Progress Production and partnered with Portage Central Bands. After having it's beginning in the Portage community, Legends now reaches a 20 mile radius. The summer ensemble has now brought our name visible to the Drum Corps International (DCI) community, other parts of Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. 3 parades in the Northern Chicago area has showcased us a premier music ensemble and has reached over 20,000 parade attendees and over 100,000 television parade watchers. Tourists at Chicago’s Navy Pier also enjoyed our program and it was very exciting to share our program with the Colts from Dubuque, IA. This season marks the 7th performing season of the Legends ensemble and the 1st time we introduced colorguard to the program.
