April weekend was a great success with much accomplished. A special thanks to the Vicksburg Community Schools for helping to make this camp weekend a smooth and great experience. All sections in and the corps is rounding out to being 50 members strong this season. Thank you to the volunteers for supporting all that we do. A special thanks to Chris Dally, Craig & Dayna Johnston, Lisa Peterson, Kim Stewart, and Rich & Maureen Porter. The corps spent a great deal of time outside focusing on moving and playing. Battery worked on the cadence and refining exercises while dialing in on section specifics. Front Ensemble worked heavily on chop building and our I&E piece while the colorguard put together a choreographed number and isolated more on technique on flag. Brass read through some summer charts and Part 1 of the show with a great full ensemble of the parade tune. Summer is nearly approaching and the corps also saw the sample of the new uniform to be debuted at DCI Kalamazoo on July 5. Memorial Weekend camp is May 23-25. Location
TBA. The staff from 2007 will all be returning for the 2008 season. Our department supervisors will remain the same with making our visual program headed by Joe Huls. Kevin Cort will be moving into administrative work in areas of Tour Operations. Allison Patrick will be assisting in Operations and Traci Glasscock with Volunteer/Food Coordination. Legends Drum & Bugle Corps took the field for the first time with it's inaugural show, "In Permoveo". This season's tour was an incredible success for it's members, volunteers, and staff. 22 days, 2300 miles, 5 states, 7 field shows, 3 parades, 2 community performances, a warm-up lot performance, and the National Anthem at DCI Kalamazoo was quite the showcase for our first season out. "This would not be possible without the support of our volunteers and sponsors," says Ibe Sodawalla, Executive Director. "I am thrilled to make this opportunity possible for our members and have a touring drum corps in Michigan." Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors, staff, and
members for an incredible tour! Legends approved as an exhibition unit at DCI sanctioned events I would like to announce that Legends is approved for performance as an exhibition unit at Drum Corps International (DCI) sanctioned events on the 2007 Summer Games Tour. "This is a major step for Legends and I am very excited to see what the future holds for us as we work under the umbrella of DCI," says Executive Director Ibe Sodawalla. "Our official status with DCI classifies us as an "affiliate member," which allows us to work closely with DCI and receive many of the same benefits of a competitive member unit. In our current growth, the affiliate membership status fits us perfectly until we are ready to consider the full responsibilities of being a competitive touring unit." Some performances have been secured with show sponsors at this time and we should know the remaining performance schedule within the next few days. Thank you Drum Corps International for your confidence in our organization and we look forward to working with you! Are you interested in getting a drum corps experience? Have you wanted to march in a drum corps? Consider Legends for your summer experience in a drum corps setting. For more information, visit our 2008 Summer Season section and fill out our membership application. We look forward to seeing you become a part of the Legends family. |
